Guided Employee Communications Through a High-Profile Leadership Transition
The Challenge
A self-driving car company needed to announce a significant leadership transition to 1,000+ employees. Its founder and CEO was moving into a technical role, while the president of a major American automotive company was stepping in as CEO. Leadership needed employees to understand what was changing, and what wasn’t, while maintaining confidence, minimizing disruption and protecting productivity and recruiting.
My Approach
I worked directly with company leadership to develop a comprehensive internal communications and change strategy aligned with external communications. I crafted key messages and developed a 30-60-90-day communications plan, along with company-wide emails, intranet and newsletter content, FAQs, opportunities for employee engagement, and the script and messaging for a company-wide Town Hall.
The Impact
The leadership announcement and Town Hall were successfully executed, giving employees clear, coordinated information about the transition while helping the company maintain business continuity. Executives and employees responded positively to both the communications and the rollout.
